Making Foamie Fairy Wings
Materials:
Two big foamie sheets.
1 sheets will be the outside wings and 1 will be the inside wing so you can use
different colors if you like.
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Beads, fake foliage, seqins, acrylic paint, whatever you want to decorate your
wings with.
Be creative here! Theres lots of stuff you can use to decorate your wings.
Plain Paper
You'll use this to create a wing pattern. Or you can use the templates to the
left.
Scissors
Youll need these to cut foam, paper and ribbon.
Ribbon
About 2 yards, it can be plain, or pretty, youll use this to make ties for the
wings.
12 to 15 Inches of Solid Stand Electrical Wire
Available at your local hardware store for about 4 to 10 cents a foot.
Thanks to Norwescon's Fairy Wing workshop for this idea. |
After choosing a fairy wing design and drawing or printing it out.
Cut it out with scissors. |
Trace the pattern on your wings, making sure there are 4 total. Then cut them
out. |
Lay them out the way you want them and bend the wire into a shape like the one
at the right. You may play around with this, you will want to give your wings
good support and some flexibility. Youll want to make sure you leave enough space
between each wing to tie ribbon onto, about 3inches is good, and to maybe decorate
with something pretty. |
When you get the wire the way you want it, hot glue it between your two layers
of foam, and make sure to go around the outside of the bonded layers and glue
any left over openings together. You will also want to trim off access foam to
even your wings out.
Once you have that done, you can decorate the wings the way you want to, using
anything you want to. Beads, fake foliage or fur, seqins, acrylic paint, whatever
you want to decorate your wings with.
After Decorating, tie your ribbon to the base of each wing, leaving an equal
ribbon length on boths sides so you can tie your wings on for wearing them. You
may also want to dab some glue where the ribbon and the wire meet to keep it secure.
Then there you have it. Finished Foamie Fairy Wings. |
